Mike and Sam's wedding at Crystal Springs Resort is the kind of day that reminds me why I love filming out in Hamburg — the property gives you mountains, a quarry lake, and open golf-course lawns all within a few minutes' walk of each other. As their wedding videographer, I got to move between all three in a single afternoon, and every one of them ended up in the film.
Crystal Springs Resort's Mountain Views
What sets Crystal Springs apart from most New Jersey venues is scale — this isn't a single ballroom with a parking lot view, it's a resort built around the mountains around it. Wide golf-course sightlines, a rock quarry lake with a footbridge over it, and wooded ceremony gardens all sit on the same property, so a couple gets to use the whole landscape instead of just one backdrop.
Mike and Sam's First Look on the Quarry Bridge
Mike and Sam had their first look on the footbridge overlooking the resort's quarry lake, the mountain rising up right behind them — Mike facing away, hand on the railing, waiting for Sam to walk up beside him. It's a quieter kind of first-look moment than most, and the setting did a lot of the work: still water, exposed rock, and tree line stacked behind them in every frame.
A Late-Afternoon Ceremony Beneath the Arch
The ceremony itself was held under a wooden pergola dressed in blush and ivory florals, timed for that last stretch of late-afternoon light with the tree line behind the couple catching it just right. Sam's veil and the flowers on the arch both caught the sun the same way — the kind of detail you don't get to plan for, you just get lucky with the timing.
